It’s Your Turn

Think of athletes as they prepare to engage into a marathon. They will change and adjust their diet and will begin a regimen that will assist their physical body to be equipped not only to finish the race but to take home the prize.

“25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step.” (1 Corinthians 9:25-26, New Living Translation).

As believers, the prize that we obtain is more than a temporal trophy. Our prize is everlasting. Salvation, everlasting life and dwelling in the presence of our King, our Maker and our God. In addition, as we partner with our Maker on earth we are ambassadors, representing heaven on earth. The role we play is so important; therefore, we must purpose to keep the vision before us, running the race with passion. In order to do that, we have to change our diet. Changing our diet starts with the ingredient of fellowship, fellowshipping with our Father in heaven through the Holy Spirit. Allowing ourselves to be renewed.

“Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God‘s will is.” (Romans 12:2).

This happens as we get in the word and allow the word to get in us, spending quality time in worship and prayer to stay focused and to fight off distractions. In the times and days that we face hardships, disappointments, and rocky roads that appear to last longer than we could bear, this is when God steps in and gives us support through others…
